Jets say it's too early to worry about Matt Forte's workload
New York Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey believes it's too early to start monitoring running back Matt Forte's workload.
Forte's 59 touches (52 carries, 7 catches) are tied with Lamar Miller for second-most in the NFL, behind DeAngelo Williams. Gailey isn't expressing concern about Forte's durability in his age-30 campaign, but it's inevitable that backup Bilal Powell will start cutting into Forte's workload as the season progresses. For now, however, Forte can continue being fired up as a top-tier RB1.
The Jets face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, where we expect Forte to rush 16 times for 70 yards and 0.32 touchdowns, adding 22 yards on 3 catches through the air.
