Matt Forte: "Catching 100 balls is not my goal as a running back"
Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is excited to run the ball more, catch the ball less, and stop talking about his contract, too.
"Catching 100 balls is not my goal as a running back," Forte said. Forte, of course, was one of just five players to hit the 100-reception plateau last year and the only non-wide receiver to do so.
Last season, Forte secured 35.92 points above expectation level for the Bears with his receptions, according to our Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) metric. That ranked second to only Le'Veon Bell (64.26). Forte's Rushing NEP of 3.33 ranked 11th among 32 backs with at least 150 carries last year. Our algorithms project Forte for 283 carries, 1,178 yards, 8 touchdowns, 63 receptions, 481 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns.
