Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian in a close battle for Denver's starting gig
Denver Broncos quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian are currently "neck and neck" for the team's starting job, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said.
Paxton Lynch, Denver's first-round pick, is third on the depth chart, per Kubiak. If Siemian and Sanchez are truly close, and this isn't just coach speak, that's probably not a good sign for Sanchez. A seventh-round selection in 2015, Siemian has not attempted a pass in his career.
On 100 drop backs, Sanchez had an ugly -0.05 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back rate in 2015, ranking 41st out of the 46 qualified quarterbacks.
