Raiders signing Jimmy Garoppolo to three-year contract
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Las Vegas Raiders are signing former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year contract worth $67.5 million.
Garoppolo didn't last long in free agency, and reportedly plans to sign a three-year contract with $34 million in guarantees with the Raiders. Garoppolo previously played with Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels in New England, where Garoppolo began his career and where McDaniels served as offensive coordinator for over 10 years.
Garoppolo dealt with injuries for much of his time in San Francisco, but did help get the team to a Super Bowl in 2019, as well as back-to-back Conference Championships in 2021 and 2022 (though injuries cut his 2022 season short). His signing in Las Vegas would indicate that the team aims to compete in 2023, rather than to began a rebuilding process.
