Saints and Drew Brees have not negotiated in 2 months
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said he and the Saints have not discussed a long-term contract extension in about two months.
Brees said he is "not stressing" over his contract, but he does not want negotiations to drag into the season. "I don't like to talk about contract during the season," Brees said. The reason Brees gives for the deadline is not wanting his contract to be a distraction during the season. That may be true, but this pronouncement has the added benefit of putting pressure on the Saints to get something done. It would be a shock if the two sides did not come to an agreement before the season.
Brees racked up 0.24 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back in 2015, good for sixth among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 150 drop backs.
