Prince Amukamara likely to work in slot for Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Prince Amukamara will compete with Dwayne Gratz and Aaron Colvin for the starting job at slot corner.

What It Means:

The Jags are going to start Davon House and first-round pick Jalen Ramsey on the outside. Traditionally a zone corner, Amukamara seems almost overqualified for the slot. He should have a leg up on the other two candidates. Colvin is serving a four-game PED suspension and won't be eligible to return until Week 6.

Amukamara has missed 13 games over the last two seasons, but he has a 16-game-season pace of around 90 tackles and 3.4 interceptions over those two years. He could be an IDP bargain. The Jaguars ranked 28th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play in 2015 and have ranked in the bottom quarter of the league in this metric for three of the past four years.
