Steelers sign quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to two-year deal
The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing free agent quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year contract, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Trubsiky's fell out of favor with the Matt Nagy-led Chicago Bears in the years after the team drafted him second-overall, but a year spent on the Buffalo Bills' bench behind Josh Allen has appeared to refurbish his reputation across the league. At the very least, Trubisky will hopefully provide better quarterbacking for the Steelers than they have had over the past three seasons.
Trubisky averaged 6.4 adjusted yards per attempt in his time with the Bears, with a 4% touchdown rate to a 2.4% interception rate. While he certainly struggled in Chicago, it's also fair to assign some of the blame for that to the poor coaching and the organization's inability to find offensive playmakers. He'll get to play with an entirely new organization surrounded by talented playmakers like Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, and Najee Harris in 2022.
