Nick Mullens to start for Browns Monday versus Raiders
Cleveland Browns quarterback Nick Mullens will start on Monday against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum both failed to test out of COVID-19 protocols on Monday morning, so Mullens will make his first start of the season. The former undrafted free agent out of Southern Mississippi started eight games for the San Francisco 49ers last year, but he hasn't thrown a pass in all of 2021.
The Raiders entered Week 15 ranked 22nd in FanDuel points allowed per game to the quarterback position and with the fifth-worst pass defense in the league, according to numberFire's adjusted metrics. Mullens averaged 0.07 Passing Net Expected Points a year ago, which was 24th out of 32 quarterbacks with at least 300 drop backs. Our models project Mullens for 14.4 FanDuel points on Monday versus the Raiders.
