Lions' T.J. Hockenson undergoes thumb surgery, done for year
Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson underwent thumb surgery Thursday morning and will miss the remainder of the 2021 season, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Schefter says Hockenson is expected to make a complete recovery in time for the Lions' offseason program. Shane Zylstra and Brock Wright are expected to split Hockenson's snaps for the remainder of the year. Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has drawn 12 targets in back-to-back games, should see a larger target share down the stretch.
numberFire's models project St. Brown to lead the Lions with 7.9 targets in Week 15 versus the Arizona Cardinals. The Lions are 12.5-point underdogs, per our NFL Heat Map, and the negative game script could create additional opportunities for St. Brown in garbage time.
