Buccaneers' Antonio Brown (ankle) could have long-term injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle) is dealing with a sprain near his heel and it may be a long-term injury, per head coach Bruce Arians.

What It Means:

The hope had been that Brown would be able to return after the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye, but it sounds like that might not be a realistic possibility. Tyler Johnson took on most of Brown's snaps last Sunday while Mike Evans and Chris Godwin accounted for more than half of the team's target share. Rob Gronkowski (ribs) returned to practice on Wednesday and would help offset the loss of Brown in Tampa Bay's offense.

The Saints are No. 21 in FanDuel points allowed per game to the wide receiver position this season, but they are top-10 in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play. Evans is averaging 21.6 FanDuel points and Godwin is averaging 18.9 FanDuel points in two games without Brown this season. Godwin is the WR10 and Evans is the WR13 in numberFire's Week 8 fantasy rankings.
