Cam Akers expected to see bigger role in Rams' offense
Los Angeles Rams rookie running back Cam Akers will likely see a larger role over the rest of the season, writes Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.
Akers missed time with an upper ribs/chest injury over the first half of the season but Rodrigue believes the second-rounder will compete with Darrell Henderson for the lead back job down the stretch. Akers actually led the Rams in Week 10 with 10 carries while Henderson and Brown tied with 8 each. Brown will likely retain the pass-catching role while Akers and Henderson compete for early-down touches. The Rams face a tough Tampa Bay Buccaneers run defense on Monday night in Week 11.
numberFire's models project Akers for 8.3 touches in Week 11, behind Henderson (11.3) and Brown (8.4). He has a salary of $5,400 on FanDuel's main slate against a defense allowing the sixth-fewest FanDuel points per game to the running back position. Akers ranks last among the three backs for the season in numberFire's rushing efficiency metric.
