Allen Lazard securing Packers' No. 2 receiver job

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard has "solidified" the team’s belief that he can be the primary receiving threat behind Davante Adams, writes Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

What It Means:

“Everybody’s talked about Allen,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday. “And it’s pretty easy because the guy is a professional. He has worked on his game. I think for him to separate himself, he needs to continue to improve on the things he did last year.” Lazard, a 2018 undrafted free agent, finished with the second-most receiving yards (477) behind Davante Adams (997) last year. He averaged 3.2 catches for 43.4 yards on 4.7 targets over the final 11 weeks of the regular season after only playing 21 snaps in the first five games. That would have amounted to 694 receiving yards and 4.4 touchdowns on 51 receptions over the course of a full season and ranked inside the top-50 wide receivers in PPR formats.

numberFire's models project Lazard for 76.3 targets, 45.4 receptions, 626.5 yards, and 3.9 touchdowns this season. He's the WR63 in our preseason fantasy rankings. Rodgers posted his highest adjusted yards per attempt (10.4) when throwing to Lazard last season.
