Saints' Drew Brees intent on playing despite significant pain

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (foot) is in "horrible, miserable pain" but is "intent on playing" in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

What It Means:

Brees is dealing with a torn plantar fascia sustained during Monday night's loss to the Detroit Lions. His Week 16 status is in major doubt. With their season down the drain, the Saints have nothing to gain by trotting out a hobbled Brees. Despite the reports, he seems unlikely to go. Luke McCown would get the nod is Brees sits.

Among passers with at least 100 drop backs, Brees ranks ninth in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back. In Week 16, New Orleans hosts the Jaguars, who rank 20th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per drop back. We project Brees to throw for 305 yards, 1.96 touchdowns and 0.84 interceptions against Jacksonville, if he plays.
