Cardinals claim D.J. Swearinger off waivers
The Arizona Cardinals claimed defensive back D.J. Swearinger off waivers from the Washington Redskins.
The Cardinals had the top waiver claim, so Swearinger was not passed by any teams after being released by Washington on Christmas Eve. He could be a 2019 starter for the Cardinals in what will be his age-28 campaign and the last year of his current contract. Swearinger spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons in Arizona before leaving as a free agent.
Swearinger led Washington in interceptions (4) and pass deflections (10) over 15 games. The Cardinals D/ST is 20th in numberFire's Week 16 fantasy rankings.
