Jevon Carter leads West Virginia to win over Texas
West Virginia Mountaineers junior guard Jevon Carter tied a season-high with 24 points in Monday's 77-62 win over the Texas Longhorns.
Carter went 9-for-17 from the field as he tied his season-high in points, set just one game earlier. This time, though, wasn't a double-overtime affair. The junior also grabbed 10 rebounds, earning his third double-double of the season. He has scored at least 19 points in three of his last four games.
While the offensive surge is helpful, Carter's real value to West Virginia is on the defensive end where he ranks in the top-10 of the nation in defensive rating (86.6), steals per game (2.8), steal percentage (5.0) and defensive win shares (2.5).
