4. 2001-02 Duke Blue Devils

nERD: 22.63

After winning the title the year before, Coach K and company, with many of their core players intact, were looking to repeat as champions. And why wouldn't they?

Now all juniors, Jay Williams, Carlos Boozer and Mike Dunleavy made up a three-headed offensive attack. Across the trio, they averaged 56.8 points per game and .909 win shares per 40 minutes. Collectively, over 35 games, that amounted to an insane 22 win shares.

They had help from others like Chris Duhon, but the three juniors were the reason the Blue Devils ranked within the 96th percentile with the nation's fourth most-efficient offense. They averaged 88.9 points per game, but Duke was also special on the defensive end. While rating near the top in pace, they were the seventh-best defense in terms of efficiency.

Led by Williams -- the nation's player of the year -- they were elite on both ends of the floor, but their run in the postseason was cut short. After winning their first two contests, the Blue Devils lost to Indiana in the Sweet 16, where all three of their stars' collegiate careers ended.
