Spurs' Pau Gasol to decline player option for 2017-18
San Antonio Spurs center Pau Gasol will decline his player option of $16.2 million for next season, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
What It Means:
Gasol will opt out but will look to secure a long-term deal with the Spurs. Rumors have it that a deal would involve a pay cut that would allow the Spurs the flexibility to go after Chris Paul in free agency this summer.
The 36-year-old Gasol posted a 6.7 nERD, which was good enough for 10th among all NBA centers this season.
