Grizzlies' Tony Allen out indefinitely with calf strain

Memphis Grizzlies guard/forward Tony Allen (calf) has been diagnosed with a strain of the medial gastrocnemius muscle in his right leg and will be out indefinitely.

What It Means:

Allen suffered the injury in the first half of Wednesday's meaningless regular-season finale, which is an even bigger bummer with the Grizzlies set to open their First Round playoff series with the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. It's a major upgrade for Kawhi Leonard's output. As for Memphis, Vince Carter should benefit the most while Troy Daniels and maybe James Ennis also get extra run.

Carter is averaging 9.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 2.0 3-pointers as a starter this season (15 games).
