Sixers don't expect Joel Embiid's knee injury to be a lingering issue

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) will not return to the lineup until he is 100 percent healthy, but the team does not expect the injury to have any lingering long-term effects, per general manager Bryan Colangelo.

What It Means:

Colangelo said that "if the injury presents as asymptomatic, and he can show he’s healthy and able to play basketball, there’s no reason he shouldn’t play." Adding that "I don’t think there’s any potential long-term effects. This is not thought to be a severe injury." Don't expect Embiid back before the All-Star break, but this is encouraging to hear in any case. Look for Nerlens Noel to continue starting at center until Embiid returns.

Embiid had a terrific start to the season, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.5 blocks in only 25.4 minutes per game through his first 31 contests. He also ranks 105th in the NBA and second among Sixers players with a 0.8 nERD on the year.
