Tyreke Evans

Tyreke Evans won't be ready for Pelicans' opening night

New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry said that he doesn't think guard Tyreke Evans (knee) will be ready to start the 2016-17 season.

What It Means:

Gentry said that Evans won't be ready on Zach Lowe's ESPN podcast. Gentry's statements weren't too reassuring and there is a chance that Evans could be out well into the regular season as he rehabs his surgically repaired right knee. With Eric Gordon gone to Houston, newly signed Tim Frazier and Langston Galloway could see heavy minutes while Evans is on the shelf. Jrue Holliday also becomes a much more attractive option for year-long fantasy basketball and NBA DFS next season.

Evans had a -0.5 nERD, which ranked 81st in the NBA last season. He only managed to play 25 games, but he averaged 15.2 points, 6.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game. He also had a 53.4 True Shooting Percentage, which is the second-best clip of his career.
