Greg Monroe Heads to Boston

This isn’t the first time mentioning Greg Monroe this season, thanks in large part to my secret fandom as well as his value as a double-double fantasy player.

In his new role with the Boston Celtics, it’s unlikely we see Monroe post double-doubles, at least on a consistent basis. The Boston front court has a lot of moving parts, and Brad Stevens is a strategist in the sense that he’ll use a mix of Monroe, Aron Baynes, Marcus Morris, and Daniel Theis as needed depending on his matchups.

That said, despite what could be inconsistency on a night-to-night basis, this is an upgrade for Monroe. As we’ve seen in the past with other players playing their best ball under Stevens, Monroe could find himself in the same boat. If his salary hangs around in the low-to-mid $5,000 range, Monroe has the goods to return nice value as part of one of the top teams in the East moving forward.
