T7. New York Knicks, 2014-15

nERD: 19.4

This was supposed to be the season that put the New York Knicks back in the East Conference playoffs. After all, they brought on NBA champion Derek Fisher to coach a squad consisting of Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani and J.R. Smith.

Things didn't quite turn out the way the Knicks front office would've liked them to. The team went 17-65 on the year and lost 16 straight contests in the middle of the season. Who can entirely blame them, though? Due to injuries, Carmelo played just 40 games, Stoudemire saw action in 36 and Bargnani suited up for 29. As for Smith, he was shipped to Cleveland when the team realized the true state of the franchise.

As a result of both underperformance and inconsistency, the Knicks were near the bottom of the league in both offensive and defensive rating. Their marks of 99.9 and 110.0 ranked 29th and 28th, respectively, and their offensive rating was 5.7 points below league-average. Despite expectations, it was another lost year for the Knicks.
