Mets' Devin Mesoraco (back) expected to miss week-plus
New York Mets catcher Devin Mesoraco received an epidural shot in his back and is expected to miss at least a week.
Mesoraco exited Monday's series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers after experiencing neck and back stiffness. Mets manager Mickey Callaway told reporters Tuesday that the 30-year-old catcher would "absolutely" be on the 10-day disabled list if it were any other time in the season. Kevin Plawecki figures to continue filling in at catcher in the meantime.
Mesoraco is averaging 6.5 FanDuel points in 80 games for the Cincinnati Reds and Mets this season, while slashing .213/.295/.374 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI across 264 plate appearances.
