Marlins' Caleb Smith (lat) could be done for the season

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Caleb Smith said Monday that he's considering season-ending surgery on his strained left lat.

What It Means:

The surgery decision has yet to be finalized, but it does appear to still be a possibility. He was diagnosed with a Grade 3 lat strain, so check back soon to see what the team and Smith decide.

If Smith is done for the season, he'll finish 2018 with a 4.19 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 88 strikeouts over 77.1 innings of work.
