Noah Syndergaard (finger) scratched from Sunday's start for the Mets

New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) will not start on Sunday after experiencing renewed swelling and discomfort in his right index finger.

What It Means:

Syndergaard has been out since late May with a ligament strain in his index finger and was set to return to the rotation on Sunday. He was playing catch when his finger started to swell, delaying his return. Seth Lugo will start in his place against the New York Yankees.

Syndergaard has tossed 64 2/3 innings with 76 strikeouts and a 3.06 ERA this season.
