Cardinals' Paul DeJong undergoes successful surgery on fractured hand
According to Rob Rains of STL Sports Page, St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong underwent successful surgery to repair the fracture in his left hand on Friday.
DeJong was hit by a pitch on Thursday and an X-ray didn't take long to reveal the fracture. The surgery included screws and a metal plate to speed up the healing process. He is without a timetable for now, and Jedd Gyorko and Yairo Munoz figure to man short in his stead.
Our models project DeJong to hit .280 with 8 home runs and 21 RBI in 137 plate appearances the rest of the way.
