Yankees sign Adam Lind to minor league deal
The New York Yankees and first baseman Adam Lind have agreed to a minor league contract, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Lind was unable to secure a big-league contract after serving as a part-time bat for the Washington Nationals a season ago. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman calls Lind an "insurance policy", noting that his contract contains an opt-out after spring if he'd like to sign elsewhere.
In 116 games a year ago, Lind hit 14 home runs with 59 RBI and .363 wOBA.
