Chris Coghlan not in Cubs' lineup for Wednesday's wild card game
Chicago Cubs utility man Chris Coghlan is not in the lineup for Wednesday's National League Wild Card Game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Tommy La Stella is staring at third base and batting fifth. This pushes Kris Bryant into left field while Starlin Castro plays second.
It is interesting having La Stella batting in the five hole. Over 362 career plate appearances against right-handed pitchers, La Stella has a 27.4 hard-hit rate, well below the big-league average of 31.4 for hitters in the five hole. At the same time, his 15.1 soft-hit rate and 9.4 strikeout rate against righties are much better than the average for that spot in the order.
