White Sox sign Welington Castillo to two-year deal

The Chicago White Sox have signed free agent catcher Welington Castillo to a two-year deal, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

What It Means:

Castillo hit free agency after declining his player option with the Baltimore Orioles. Rosenthal is reporting that the deal is for two years with a club option. The 30-year-old backstop figures to serve as the team's starting catcher with Omar Narvaez serving in a complementary role.

This past season, Castillo hit 20 home runs with 53 RBI and a .352 wOBA in 96 games with the Orioles.
