Trayce Thompson out again for White Sox

Chicago White Sox outfielder Trayce Thompson (elbow) is out of the White Sox' starting lineup again on Wednesday night.

What It Means:

Thompson suffered a left elbow strain on Monday and hasn't played since. It's not clear when he might be ready. J.B. Shuck is getting a start in rightfield against the Oakland Athletics.

Thompson, a rookie, got to the bigs on the strength of his bat, and he's delivered thus far. In his first 66 plate appearances, Thompson owns a robust -- and unsustainable -- .470 wOBA with four homers and a steal. Thompson spent all of 2013 and 2014 in Double-A, where he hit at least 15 homers and swiped at least 20 bases each season, showing the profile of a valuable power-speed hitter.
