Jose Martinez (thumb) is out of the Cardinals' lineup on Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jose Martinez (thumb) will not play in Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Martinez flew back to St. Louis and is having his thumb examined after being forced to leave Friday's game with soreness. The team should be able to give an update on his status soon. Matt Carpenter is filling in at first base, while Jedd Gyorko gets the nod at third base.
Martinez is having a stellar second half, posting a .419 wOBA since the All-Star break. On the season, he's averaged 8.0 fantasy points a game on FanDuel.
