Jose Pirela (finger) not in the lineup Wednesday for Padres
San Diego Padres second baseman/outfielder Jose Pirela is again absent from the club's lineup Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins.
Pirela has yet to play since injuring his pinkie on a slide on Sunday. X-rays did come back negative and there haven't been further reports on the injury, but we should consider Pirela day-to-day for the time being. While he's out, Cory Spangenberg will continue to play left field, as he does so this evening in Minnesota.
Our models project Pirela to tally 8 singles, 2 doubles and a home run in 43 plate appearances the rest of the season.
