New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is starting on Thursday against the New York Mets.

After striking out in his lone pinch-hit appearance on Wednesday, Gardner will man left field and return to the leadoff spot versus Mets left-hander Steven Matz. Jacoby Ellsbury will be available off the Yankees' bench.
