Rockies activate Justin Morneau from 60-day disabled list
The Colorado Rockies have activated first baseman Justin Morneau from the 60-day disabled list. He will be in the Rockies' lineup Friday.
Morneau suffered a fairly serious head injury in May, forcing many to speculate whether he would ever be able to play again. This could lead to decreased playing time for Ben Paulsen, who filled in well in Morneau's absence.
You don't need numbers to feel good about this move. Morneau was able to revive his career with the Rockies in 2014, posting a .319/.364/.496 slash with 17 home runs. Prior to this year's injury, Morneau had seen his production slip to .290/.317/.450 with 3 homers in 104 plate appearances. He did have a 32.2 percent hard-hit rate, so Morneau can certainly still at least contribute to the Rockies down the stretch.
