Lance McCullers lands on Astros' disabled list with sore back
Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with back discomfort.
McCullers also missed time with a back problem in June, and this can probably explain why the 23-year-old right-hander has struggled so much in July (9.64 ERA over four starts). There's no timetable for his return at this point, but Brad Peacock will fill the void in the Astros' rotation in the interim.
Overall this season, McCullers owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 26.0 strikeout percentage (K%) over 105 2/3 innings. He's 7-3 in 19 starts. numberFire's models project him to record a 3.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 22.8 K% in 62 remaining innings this year.
