Steven Souza (hip) out on Friday night for Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Steven Souza (hip) is not starting on Friday night against the Texas Rangers.
Souza avoided any structural damage during an awkward slide attempt on Wednesday, but he's still expected to miss a little time. The 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .271/.369/.514 with 20 taters and 60 RBI in 90 games this season. Shane Peterson is starting in right field and batting eighth versus Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish for Friday's series opener.
For the rest of the season, numberFire's models project Souza to record a .260 batting average with 10 homers and 34 RBI in 258 plate appearances over the rest of the year.
