Devin Mesoraco sitting down as Reds take on Marlins
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is not starting on Friday versus the Miami Marlins.
Mesoraco went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Thursday in his first start since being activated from the disabled list from an almost two-week absence due to a strain in his shoulder. He'll return to the bench for tonight's series opener while Tucker Barnhart draws the nod behind the dish for Cincinnati.
For the season, the 29-year-old backstop is slashing .233/.328/.448 in 134 plate appearances (42 games). numberFire's models project him to record a .204 batting average in 116 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
