Angels release Danny Espinosa
The Los Angeles Angels have released infielder Danny Espinosa.
After being designated for assignment on Sunday, Espinosa cleared waivers and will now be released by the club. Nick Franklin and Cliff Pennington are in line to get more starts at second base the rest of the way.
Through 254 plate appearances, the 30-year-old had hit just 6 home runs with a .223 wOBA on the year. In 2016, he bombed 24 homers with a .294 wOBA for the Washington Nationals.
