Rays' Steven Souza (hip) suffered no structural damage

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Steven Souza Jr. suffered no structural damage to his injured left hip, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin.

What It Means:

Souza injured his hip while making an award slide in Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. After undergoing an MRI Thursday it appears that Souza avoided major injury and can be considered day-to-day. He's likely to make a return in the next few days, but Shane Peterson and Peter Bourjos are poised to get a start or two in right.

For the rest of the season, numberFire's models project Souza for 5 home runs, 17 RBI and a .257 average in 131 plate appearances.
