Cubs acquire Austin Jackson in trade
Outfielder Austin Jackson has been dealt to the Chicago Cubs from the Seattle Mariners in advance of the waiver trade deadline, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
The Cubs are sending Seattle a player to be named later and a possible international draft slot.
Jackson is a defensive specialist whom Ultimate Zone Rating has as a top-five defender in the outfield. Jackson is hitting just .272/.312/.387 this season, but he figures to be extra depth, especially with Jorge Soler (oblique) injured.
