Martin Prado sprains knee, lands on Marlins' disabled list

The Miami Marlins placed third baseman Martin Prado on the 10-day disabled list with a right knee sprain.

What It Means:

Prado injured his knee during Monday's 6-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, and it's currently unknown how long he'll be out. The 33-year-old veteran had been drawing trade interest, but this guarantees he'll be in Miami through the deadline. Derek Dietrich and Miguel Rojas, who was just activated from the DL, project to share time at the hot corner while Prado is out, with Dietrich seeing the majority of the starts.

Prado is slashing .250/.279/.357 in 147 plate appearances (37 games) this season. numberFire's metrics project him to record a .250 batting average the rest of the way.
