Yankees' Dustin Fowler tears knee in Thursday's debut

New York Yankees outfielder Dustin Fowler is undergoing surgery after suffering an open rupture of the right patella tendon during Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

What It Means:

Fowler had to be carted off the field after crashing into the right field wall while chasing a fly ball in the first inning on Thursday night. The 22-year-old rookie's season is over just as it began as he's facing at least six months of rehab.

Through 69 games and 312 plate appearances at Triple-A this season, Fowler slashed .291/.327/.530 while turning in a .857 OPS with 12 home runs, 42 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.
