Yankees place Starlin Castro (hamstring) on disabled list

New York Yankees second baseman Starlin Castro has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

What It Means:

Castro suffered the injury on Monday and it's currently unclear how long he will be on the shelf. Ronald Torreyes is starting at second base while Didi Gregorius will man shortstop for the Yankees on Tuesday night. They're batting seventh and fifth, respectively, against southpaw Jose Quintana and the Chicago White Sox. Tyler Wade was called up Tuesday and figures to see regular playing time while Castro is sidelined.

Castro is slashing .313/.348/.486 across 313 plate appearances this season while recording 12 home runs and 45 RBI.
