Ryan Schimpf starting at third base for Padres Wednesday
San Diego Padres third baseman Ryan Schimpf is starting and batting fifth against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Schimpf rotates with Cory Spangenberg nearly every other day recently, but he'll be in the lineup and batting in the middle of the order in a visit to the hitter-friendly Chase Field. Schimpf has tons of power, but doesn't make enough contact to maximize it.
Schimpf is slashing .161/.290/.435 with 14 home runs, 24 runs, and 25 RBI in 193 plate appearances in 2017.
