Ariel Miranda goes the distance in Mariners' Sunday win
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Ariel Miranda threw the first complete game of his career in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing just one run on four hits over nine innings.
Miranda's lone earned run was on an RBI groundout and with nine strikeouts and only one walk allowed, that makes Sunday a career night for the young southpaw. He needed 105 pitches to get through the Rays on Sunday and he has looked very good over his last four starts.
Miranda now has a 3.74 ERA and 4.36 SIERA over 67.1 innings pitched this season. His strikeout rate is at 21.9 percent.
