Vince Velasquez (flexor strain) lands on Phillies' disabled list

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow flexor strain.

What It Means:

Velasquez called the strain "mild" after Tuesday's contest, but we'll have a clearer sense of the extent of the injury following the results of an MRI that will take place later this week. The 24-year-old right-hander underwent Tommy John surgery at the very beginning of his professional career, back in 2010.

Velasquez has had a bit of a dicey start to 2017, with a 5.58 ERA (4.08 SIERA), 24.1 percent strikeout rate, 9.6 percent walk rate and 1.46 WHIP over 50 innings pitched. He's 2-5 across 10 starts.
