Jharel Cotton

Jharel Cotton will rejoin Athletics' rotation Saturday

The Oakland Athletics will recall pitcher Jharel Cotton to start Saturday versus the New York Yankees, reports Joe Stiglich of NBC Sports California.

What It Means:

Sean Manaea will move up to start Friday in place of Kendall Graveman (shoulder), creating the opportunity for Cotton. The 25-year-old right-hander was demoted earlier in May after a disappointing start to the year, but did well for Triple-A Nashville, twirling a 2.25 ERA and 28.3 strikeout percentage over 12 innings in two starts.

Cotton posted a 5.68 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 20.5 strikeout percentage and 3-4 record in seven big league starts (38 innings) prior to the demotion.
