Jayson Werth (groin) returns as Nationals open series with Pittsburgh

Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth (groin) has returned to the lineup on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

What It Means:

Werth left Saturday's game with groin tightness and then sat out Sunday's contest. He's good to go now following the Nationals' off-day on Monday. The 37-year-old veteran is hitting second and starting in left field against right-hander Chad Kuhl and the Pirates.

Through 128 plate appearances (31 games) this season, Werth owns an impressive .303/.406/.505 slash with six home runs and a .911 OPS.
