Marlins' Dan Straily departs after taking liner to forearm

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Dan Straily left Monday's start versus the Houston Astros after being struck in the right forearm by a line drive.

What It Means:

The smash caught Straily flush in the forearm, but the pitcher collected himself and got the out. He finished the frame and also had a sac bunt in the bottom of the fifth but was then pulled. Straily had allowed just one hit and one walk while throwing 67 pitches over five shutout innings. He might have been able to keep going, but the Marlins probably did the smart thing in lifting him.

Straily brought a 4.03 ERA, 24.0 percent strikeout rate, 11.7 percent walk rate, and 3.2 percent home run rate into tonight's game.
