Twins won't be promoting Jose Berrios this week
Minnesota Twins pitcher Jose Berrios will not be called up this week, a person "with direct knowledge" of the situation indicated to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The source acknowledged that plans could change at any time, but Nick Tepesch is already in line for another start Thursday. Adam Wilk was also just claimed off the waivers, making him a possibility for a weekend start. Despite Berrios' dominance at the Triple-A level this season, it doesn't sound like the Twins are in any rush to add the 22-year-old right-hander to their big league rotation.
Across 39 2/3 innings (six starts) for Triple-A Rochester this year, Berrios has twirled a 1.13 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 25.7 strikeout percentage.
